Hello! My name is Julie McGuire and this is my first time running for public office! Mark and I have been married for 25 years and we have four children, Sophia, Grace, Brady and Vitya. We have lived in Perry Township since 1999.

I have proudly spent my career in the nonprofit and public sector. Before deciding to file for this seat, I was working as a policy analyst for the republican caucus at the Indiana State Senate. I really love working on research and public policy. Prior to that, I worked as the business manager for St. Roch Catholic Church for 15 years. I learned so much during those years, especially the importance of building relationships. An important focus for me, as a State Representative, will be on constituent services. Being able to connect people in the district with the resources they need.

Currently, I serve as the Secretary for the Perry Township GOP Club. I am a founding member and organizer for the St. Roch Hearts for Haiti Ministry. Most recently, I joined the Board of Directors for Roncalli High School. I look forward to having the opportunity to serve and represent the people HD 93!

  • I am pro-life and support family values. I will vote to empower parents to make the best educational decisions for their children. There is no place for divisive curriculum in our classrooms.
  • I will fight to make sure taxpayers keep more of their hard-earned money. State funds should be used efficiently and with accountability.
  • The ongoing increase of violent crime in our community is unacceptable. I will vote for policies that make it easier for our public safety responders to keep our community safe.
I am passionate about educational choice for Hoosier families. Every child is different and parents should be able to decide what school setting best meets their needs. I believe tax dollars should follow the child, and not belong to a zip code.

I want to ensure that we have more affordable healthcare in our state. Indiana is one of the most expensive states for hospital costs, and that is unacceptable.

Additionally, we must continuously work to bring more jobs to Indiana. Our economic vitality is imperative in order to create growth and opportunities for Hoosiers and their families.
I believe integrity is of the utmost importance for an elected official. You must be trustworthy and dedicated to serving your community. This is not a "job" it is an important responsibility to represent people who depend on you to give 100% effort toward making Indiana the best it can be.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Indiana

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
