Morrison's campaign website highlighted the following issues:
“ |
Upholding Women’s Rights Julie supports the right of women to have access to full reproductive health options and procedures without the involvement of government and regardless of their ability to pay. This is a right of privacy between a woman and her doctor. Ensuring Public Safety Julie is a staunch and consistent proponent of strong and well-enforced gun safety laws. She is pleased to have received an “F” rating from the NRA and has never voted in favor of any pro-firearm legislation. Promoting Ethics & Responsible Government Despite the passage of various incremental reforms, Illinois has room for improvement in ensuring that state and local government is transparent, fiscally responsible, and ethical. Julie has pursued an ambitious course in introducing bills to disclose conflicts of interest among legislators and to ensure greater distance between lawmakers and lobbyists. To promote efficiency of local government and save taxpayer dollars, Julie has introduced plans to allow townships to dissolve or consolidate services. Protecting Those with Developmental Disabilities Families of children with developmental disabilities face unique challenges, and to help address them, Julie created and chairs the Illinois General Assembly’s Special Needs Caucus. Recognizing these families’ needs and the complexities of navigating the available services, she has hosted a Developmental Disability Resource Fair aimed at directing parents of children with disabilities to resources such as work, housing, and transportation. Advocating for Child Welfare Julie Morrison strongly believes that we have a responsibility to safeguard our most vulnerable populations. A longstanding advocate for children’s welfare, she is working with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and other agencies to increase efficiency and improve access to services.[12] |

Morrison's campaign website presented the following issues in a question and answer format:[14]
- The excessive power outages of last summer are still on people’s minds. What can and should be done about ComEd?
- Excerpt: "Given its recent track record and what has been learned over the past months about how this public utility operates, I believe that ComEd’s profits must be restricted and it should bear the greatest burden for upgrading its aged delivery system."
- What will you do to ensure that public employees aren’t abusing the current pension system, and still make sure that teachers get the pensions they’re entitled to?
- Excerpt: "This district wants what is fair: reform to close the loopholes for abuse, and a plan for putting the state pension systems back on a sound financial footing."
- Where do you stand on gun control?
- Excerpt: "I am a proponent of strict and well-enforced gun safety laws. I do not support concealed carry legislation."
- Reproductive rights are very important to women and families. Do you believe in a woman’s right to choose?
- Excerpt: "I am 100% pro-choice. I support the right of women to have access to reproductive health options and procedures without the involvement of government and regardless of their ability to pay."
- What is your position on Israel, and how does this affect Illinois?
- Excerpt: "Illinois should proactively pursue business and trade initiatives with Israel."
- Why does Illinois still have townships? Aren’t they just a waste of taxpayer money?
- Excerpt: "If the township were not offering these essential services, they would have to be absorbed by the county or the municipalities within the township, almost certainly with less efficiency and at higher cost to taxpayers."
Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
