Empathy, persistence, ability to multi-task and be a "generalist" (knowing a fair amount about MANY things), ability to see many perspectives and opinions but ultimately able to follow the laws set forth. Willingness to try to change laws that no longer fit the needs of the community. The ability to do the work for the "MANY" and not just for self or a FEW.
I want to be remembered as kind and loving with a welcoming home.
Waiting on the world to change. I find that we CAN'T follow the directives of this song. We can't wait for the world to make the changes - we need to get out there and facilitate the change that makes the world a better place.
While change is slow, we can make lasting change for the greater community. For example, when we review the reconstruction on roads by the county or state, we can offer informed opinions of how to make these project outcomes better for residents and then actually see these ideas put into use in the future.
I do not know it is necessary. City Council can be a great "entry" point to politics if people have higher aspirations.
Care for the community and compassion for others that can be weighed against following required regulations.
We are required to provide financial transparency and accountability in our roles and I strive to uphold that standard.
