Expand all | Collapse all

Junelle Cavero is a community advocate, small business owner, and mother. Raised by working class, immigrant parents, she attributes her education and upbringing to her father, a Navy Vietnam veteran and retired union US Postal Letter Carrier. Junelle successfully fought for WWII veterans equity in Congress and expanded healthcare access to veterans. Junelle began as high school civic engagement program director, later worked on presidential campaigns and fought discrimination at the Arizona Fair Housing Center.

For over 20 years, Junelle Cavero has fought for equal opportunity, equity and economic security, with a focus on policies impacting minorities, women, children, veterans, those with disabilities, and working families. She earned her Master’s in Public Administration to serve these communities.

A mother of two, Junelle is concerned with the growth of homelesssness in our district. She is committed to working with public safety officials and community members to establish a trusting relationship that ensures our neighborhoods are safe. As a public administrator, she has the experience to create policies and budgets to address such concerns.

Junelle has a solid track record of achieving grants and fostering business development. She will work with local officials and community leaders to strengthen working families.

  • I will work endlessly to support and sponsor legislation to advance the needs of Arizona Working Families.
  • Public education is our most powerful weapon and the legislature must stop their repeated attacks on public education.
  • Access to reproductive health is a key component of quality healthcare. I will push for a State Constitutional Amendment to guarantee an individuals right to choose. Abortion is a Human Right.
Education: I believe the legislature should stop their repeated attacks on public education; increase revenues allocated to improve daily maintenance and operations of our schools.

Wages: Arizonans need quality paying jobs that provide upward mobility. I will advocate for better healthcare, safe working environment, union development and the right to organize.

Environment: Arizona’s clean air and sustainable water crises are priorities for our district, state, and the nation. I will be a strong advocate for policies that achieve water sustainability and groundwater management.

Housing: Home prices and rent have increased due to a combination of increased land costs, growing labor costs, supply chain shortages, and zoning approvals for apartments and affordable housing - all of which must be addressed through both private and public efforts.

Healthcare: I fight for every Arizonan to have quality, accessible and affordable health care. I will work to protect reproductive rights, children's health care, and expand funding and access for behavioral and mental health.

Diversity & Equity: I plan to review and repeal existing or proposed discrimination statutes to ensure protection of our treasured, and often hard-won, civil rights. We must address decades of systematic mistreatment of people of color (Asian Americans, Black, Hispanics/Latinos and Indigenous Americans) in Arizona.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Arizona

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
