Justice Sanders faces two challengers for Supreme Court seat
July 26, 2010
Olympia, Washington: On August 17, 2010, Washington Supreme Court Justice Richard Sanders will face two challengers in a primary election. Charlie Wiggins, a former Court of Appeals judge, and Bryan Chushcoff, of the Pierce County Superior Court are running for a position on the state's highest court.
Sanders has judged on this court since 1995, but some of his judicial and personal actions in the past 5 years have sparked controversy. Also, although Chushcoff does not plan to raise any campaign money, his presence in the race is expected to prevent any one of the candidates from receiving over 50% of the vote and therefore winning the election in the primary.[1]
