What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
Establishing Ranked Choice Voting to break the two party system Single Payer Medicare for All Abolish the NSA, CIA, ICE, and the TSA
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I hate having to choose between two bad candidates because one is a 'lesser' evil. Politics is not two dimensional. A choice between two candidates cannot represent everyone in a meaningful way. It's no coincidence that half of Americans don't vote. Why should they? They don't have any good choices. If they had their choice of 5 or 6 candidates they might actually like one or two of them. People in this country are dying because they cannot afford their insulin. It costs $3 to make a vial of it and it is sold for hundreds of dollars. There is nothing more disgusting than letting people die to make more money. Revoke patents, directly produce insulin and sell it at cost, and or negotiate down the drug prices with a single payer system, any or all of these would tank the price of insulin and make it so no one dies from lack of insulin in America again. The problem is not just insulin however, other life saving drugs cost far too much for the sake of corporate profit. Its not a question of if we can lower drug prices its a question of whether we prioritize profits or human life. I choose human life. I hate it when government agencies break the law as a matter of policy. The NSA, CIA, and ICE are all guilty of this. The NSA illegally spies on Americans and puts back doors in our software. The CIA destroys democracies around the world and earns us the world's hate. ICE runs concentration camps with horrible conditions. Abolish all three criminal agencies. The TSA should also be abolished, partly because it is an invasion of privacy and partly because it is an incompetent waste of 8 billion dollars a year.
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
I was six years old when 9/11 happened. I saw our country fall into a paranoid security state without knowing what any of it meant at the time. Our post 9/11 security measures haven't helped protect us they've only whittled down at our freedom. The PATRIOT act was one such measure. It is unconstitutional and should be abolished.
What process do you favor for redistricting?
Ideally redistricting should be accompanied by ranked choice voting. Three districts should be combined into one district with three representatives. This makes gerrymandering much harder and provides better representation to everyone.
What are your thoughts on term limits?
Term limits are tempting at first glance as a way to clear out the corruption from congress. Unfortunately in our current system, term limits would just give more power to lobbyists to control inexperienced congressmen. I think getting money out of politics is a much better way of clearing out the garbage.
