I’m Justin Crosby, a lifelong resident of Mississippi and a dedicated advocate for economic empowerment, education, and community development. I’m running for State Representative of House District 22 because I believe our communities deserve leadership that listens, delivers results, and builds a stronger future for every family. I along with my wonderful wife Renita are raising our daughter Carson in Aberdeen, MS, my hometown.
- I am committed to creating new job training and educational opportunities in clean energy, technology, and emerging industries to build a stronger, more sustainable economy for District 22.
- I will work to improve educational resources including, universal Pre-K, expanding vocational training, and ensure students in our district have access to the skills and support they need to succeed in today’s and tomorrow's economy.
- I will fight to strengthen our rural healthcare infrastructure and advocate for Medicaid expansion to improve access to quality medical care for families across District 22.
I’m deeply passionate about economic development and financial literacy because I believe these are the keys to uplifting working families and creating lasting opportunities for Mississippians. When people understand how to manage their money and have access to good jobs, it strengthens entire communities. I’m just as passionate about education and making sure we fight to give every student and educator the resources, respect, and support they deserve. Education is the foundation for opportunity, and investing in it is investing in our future.
I look up to my mother. No, she isn't some big name or anything like that. No more than a high school education and never thought about politics beyond voting. She is my example because she has been the most constant, steady presence in my life. If I can live to be half the person she has been to our family and this community that would be enough.
While there are a lot of good books I lean into, the Bible is my north star. In my campaign and in my service, I am guided by scripture such as Micah 6:8 which calls us to “act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” For me, that means leading with fairness, compassion, and humility, always putting the needs of the people first and striving to build a community where everyone has a fair chance to succeed.
Proverbs 3:27 also reminds us, “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.” As a representative, I take this as a call to action to use every opportunity I have to create jobs, improve education, and expand healthcare access and work with everyone seeking a better Mississippi. It’s not enough to hope for change; we must actively work to make it happen.
These scriptures ground my commitment to servant leadership and the belief that we are called to uplift each other, especially those who have been left behind. For me, the most important characteristics of an elected official are integrity, accountability, and a genuine commitment to serving the people over politics and yes over party. Voters deserve leaders who are honest, transparent, and willing to listen, even when it’s difficult because sometimes we will be wrong. Equally important is the principle of empathy; understanding the diverse needs and struggles of the community to make decisions that benefit everyone, not just a few. Finally, I believe an effective official must be forward-thinking and courageous. They must be ready to tackle tough issues with practical solutions that build a better future for all.
I believe the core responsibilities of a State Representative include listening to and representing the voices of their constituents, crafting and supporting legislation that improves the quality of life in their district and ensuring government resources are used effectively and transparently. For me it is simple. People, Policy and Provision. Step one, take care of the people...period. Step two, create policies that take care of the people. Step three, provide provisions, that work via policies that are designed to take care of the people.
I have one daughter, Carson, who just began Kindergarten, and she is my greatest legacy. Every decision I make and every step I take in this campaign is with her future in mind, and for all the children in District 22. I want to build a community where she, and every child, has access to quality education, good jobs, and a safe, healthy environment. I want to make her proud that her daddy made a real difference by fighting for opportunities that uplift families and create lasting change. Carson’s beginning this new chapter inspires me daily to serve with heart, purpose, and unwavering commitment.
The relationship between the governor and state legislature must always prioritize finding a path that serves the best interests of the people. In the past, partisan divisions have sometimes gotten in the way of progress, but effective governance requires putting aside politics to work collaboratively. Both branches need to communicate openly and focus on common goals to address Mississippi’s challenges and deliver real results for our communities.
Over the next decade, Mississippi will face several significant challenges, including economic development, education, healthcare access, and environmental sustainability. We must work to create quality jobs that keep our people here and build a resilient economy, especially by investing in new industries like clean energy and technology. Our education system needs renewed focus and resources to prepare students for the future and support our teachers. Access to healthcare remains a critical issue, particularly in rural areas where hospitals struggle to stay open and many families lack coverage. Finally, climate change and environmental threats require urgent action to protect our natural resources and vulnerable communities.
No, I believe that it is beneficial for state legislators to have much experience in service, humility and transparency. Government and politics can exist without those things. Those key things must always be present in government and politics.
Absolutely, building relationships with other legislators is essential. Strong relationships foster collaboration and help bridge differences, allowing lawmakers to work together effectively despite party lines. These connections enable the sharing of ideas, finding common ground, and crafting legislation that truly serves the people. By building trust and mutual respect, legislators can navigate challenges more efficiently and create lasting solutions that benefit their communities and the state as a whole.
I would be honored to serve on any committee that serves the great people of Mississippi. If given the opportunity, I am particularly interested in committees focused on Economic Development, Education, Energy Policy, and Public Health. These areas align closely with my passion for creating opportunities, improving education, supporting healthcare access, and advancing sustainable energy solutions for our communities.
I believe financial transparency and government accountability are foundational to restoring public trust and ensuring effective leadership. Voters deserve to know how their tax dollars are spent and to have access to clear, honest information about government decisions and priorities. Transparency helps prevent corruption and waste, while accountability holds elected officials responsible for delivering on their promises.
As a State Representative, I will advocate for stronger transparency measures, including regular public reporting, accessible budget information, and open communication with constituents. I am committed to being an accountable leader who listens, reports back, and works tirelessly to serve the people of District 22 with integrity.
