Having lived in Millard for over 40 years, I know the impact a thriving school district has on the broader community. Growing up sons of a small business owner, my brothers (Matt & Ryan) and I learned the values of hard work, community support, and a continued desire to learn – values that embody what it means to be From Millard. As graduates from Millard South High School, my wife Tracy and I were confidently prepared to step into life after the teenage years. Having the privilege of working as a teacher/athletic trainer in Millard gave me a behind-the-scenes appreciation for what it takes to make a worthwhile investment in the lives of all kinds of students. Now, I am a father of five outstanding children who are enrolled and flourishing within Millard Public Schools. I know what it means to be primarily responsible for my children’s education while taking advantage of the educational options that Millard has to offer. Working as a nonprofit leader in our city has given me a strong connection to leaders and public servants throughout Omaha. And serving as an Elementary School PTO President and on the Superintendent Parent Advisory Committee has shown me the importance of being meaningfully engaged as a Millard citizen. I’m proud to say that I’m From Millard.
  • I'm proud to be FROM MILLARD & FOR MILLARD. A Vote For Justin Curtis is a Vote For Millard!
  • As a world-class educational community, Millard is a destination district. Every year, students, teachers, staff, and administrators find their home in one of our 35 excellent schools. A community asset this important requires stewardship. The type of stewardship that comes from men and women of integrity who are courageous enough to lead and humble enough to listen. Innovative leaders who value encouraging vocational/trade education in addition to college prep readiness. Sober-minded leaders who will not be easily influenced by the latest cultural ideologies. Servant leaders who will champion common-sense Midwestern values. This is why I am For Millard.
  • Millard Public Schools are a tremendous asset to the entire community. The Millard Public School system strives for each student to exemplify the knowledge, skills, and character necessary for personal excellence and responsible citizenship through an innovative, world-class educational community that challenges and empowers all students. Millard has truly become a district of choice with many different paths for students to achieve their personal academic goals. Millard Schools will continue to thrive as they provide the best academic experience possible for every student in Millard. We want to have the BEST SCHOOLS for ALL STUDENTS who call Millard home. This is why I am For Millard.
Parents have the primary responsibility for their children’s education. Therefore, I support policies that value parental responsibility of the raising of their children, including academic and moral development. I also value efforts to provide parents with increased educational options for their children.

It's also important that policy for public education should rest with local school boards, not state or federal agencies. Local school boards and school districts should build trust with the community by being transparent with citizens and inviting fiscal and educational accountability to assure that quality services are being rendered.
Take almost any personality test out there and you will find that my results most often highlight the following qualities & traits:

Wisdom, Courage, Humility, Servant, Innovation, Sober-minded, Respectable
A husband and father who sacrificially loved his wife and children until the end. A neighbor who loved well, cared about those around him, and fought for what is good, true, and beautiful about this world.
Officiating youth sports through the S/SW YMCA on 132nd & Center.
The Millard Public Schools Board of Education creates policies and rules and helps the district implement the strategic plan.
Education requires partnership.

The first partnership is between teachers and students. We need teachers who are passionate about their subject matter and the students they serve. And we need students who are eager to learn, challenged to grow, and supported in their educational endeavors.

The second partnership is between schools and families. When both institutions are embracing their responsibilities to help students thrive inside and beyond the classroom, the ideal learning environments will take shape.
As a resident of Millard for 40+ years, a parent with 5 children in the Millard Public Schools, and a non-profit leader in our community for over 15 years, I've spent countless hours building relationships with parents in particular and the broader community in general. An important component of serving on the Millard Board of Education is being out in the community and approachable for constituents.
