Justin Farmer is a young activist elected official currently serving a second term as Legislative Councilman representing Hamden's 5th District. Justin's experience as a seasoned community organizer has enabled him to build some of the strongest grassroots campaigns in state history.

For Justin, the issues he champions are personal. Justin was diagnosed with Tourette's at age 17, after years of advocating for himself in a system that can often leave our students most in need without critical resources. Justin quickly realized that it wasn't enough to stand up only for himself-the issues he faced are systemic and require changing in order for all generations to thrive. Through the years, Justin found that these issues did not stop with our system of education, but rather extended to public transportation, healthcare, the job market, and more.

That's why our campaign is focused on communities and the issues we face collectively. This isn't about electing one candidate - it's about building a movement that puts Connecticut's working class first. We know that the people closest to the problem are closest to the solution, and we look forward to working with you to build a better Connecticut.
  • Justin will continue to fight against inequality and uplift the most marginalized communities. By investing in the schools, homes, health, and wellbeing of Black, POC, and low and middle income communities; Justin brings experience in establishing tried and true policies for a transformative agenda to Connecticut.
  • We needed a Green New Deal thirty years ago - but we'll settle for now. Justin believes in stopping the construction of new fossil fuel-burning power plants; enabling Community Choice Aggregation; investing in renewable energy like offshore wind and solar; providing resiliency funds to coastal communities; investing heavily in public transportation; and ensuring a just transition, so that low-income communities of color, displaced workers and others who are on the frontlines of this battle are prioritized.
  • There is a crisis in business ownership in Connecticut: nearly half of all business owners are on the verge of retirement. To retain and create jobs, provide retirement opportunities, and broaden business ownership, Justin will create pathways for businesses to transition to employee ownership through model legislation.
Justin envisions a Connecticut that offers prosperity to all of its residents while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for generations to come. His policy commitments are deep, and always backed up with through policy understanding of how to create a just transition. Please visit www.justinforct.com/issues for his full issue platforms.
