Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Grabelle's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Balancing the Federal Budget: Since Republicans took control of the House of Representatives in 2011, they’ve added $4 trillion in more debt. In the last fifty years, Congress has only balanced the budget four times. That’s why we need a Balanced Budget Amendment.
  • Decisive Action Against the Islamic State (ISIS): There can be no mercy with an enemy like ISIS. For years, President Obama underestimated their numbers, their training, their resources, and their ability to recruit. He is now underestimating the threat they pose to the homeland and to our allies abroad. Attacks in Europe are a good example of what will continue to happen if ISIS is allowed to operate with impunity.
  • Our Children’s Education: Instead of an education system that encourages innovation and success, we run our school system out of a federal building in Washington where a one size fits all policy is treated as ransom in exchange for federal dollars. And where innovators would reevaluate our strategy where it hasn’t worked, our Department of Education is dumbing down the standards and making it more difficult for teachers and students to be successful. That is why I support ending the modern day federal Department of Education.
  • Ending Career Politics: Our Founding Fathers never believed Congress should become a career but unfortunately, one of the biggest problems that we face as a nation are career politicians who are willing to sacrifice their own principles and commitment to their constituents for power.
  • Ending the Overreach of Government: Over the past few years, the Obama Administration has published hundreds of thousands of pages of rules and regulations. Between the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Education, Bureau of Land Management, and the National Labor Relation’s Board, the Obama Administration has excessively used their executive powers. I believe Congress should approve all regulations before they take effect.
