Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Justin was born in Flint, Michigan. Received a B.A. in US Labor history from the University of Michigan. He has Has worked in many fields including public administration, project management, service, clerical, mechanical, and construction. Has lived and worked in San Antonio for the past 10 years.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• Creation of a universal Medicare for All healthcare system that ensures no one is left wanting for healthcare, especially our veterans wounded by America's wasteful imperial missions.
• Implementation of a Green New Deal and universal jobs guarentee that will take the necessicary steps to protect our environment, and ensure a just transition for all people to a sustainable economy.
• Abolishment of ICE and CBP along with the implementation of a simple and clear path to citizenship including citizenship for all DACA

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Creation of democratic and cooperative organizations, and the use of government intervention to democratize major industry and finance.

Nationalization of the Fossil Fuel industry as payment for lying to the American people for 30 years about the dangers of carbon emissions, and investigation and trial into executive leadership that was complicit in covering up scientific research.

Taxing Wall St and the billionaire class to fund massive jobs guarantee that pays a minimum $20/hr converting our civil and economic infrastructure into a sustainable and just system that serves the needs of all Americans. Abolishment of the Taft-Heartly Act, and government aid in the creation of unions. Regulations mandating the democratization of all corporations that the government contracts business to.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

The men and women of the American labor and justice movement, both known and unknown, who fought and died for the rights of all people. The most well known American figures that inspire me are leaders and activists like Eugene Debs, Fredrick Hampton, and Dorothy Day.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin is one of the greatest novels about a possible utopia, a socioeconomic system that celebrates both human individuality and community, as well as questioning how we perceive freedom, tyranny, and duty to society.

What do you perceive to be the United States’ greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?

Climate change is going to be the most impactful challenge to all humanity. We are going to have to harness the power of the American labor force to convert our society to a sustainable one before the end of 2030, if we are going to keep emissions within levels to maintain collective human civilization. All of the problems facing our society are intersectional and are a direct result of capitalism's failings. Through Medicare for All and a Green New Deal we can create a universal jobs guarantee that ensures that all Americans have a job that provides a reasonable standard of living. In order to meet this demand for new labor we must also create an apprenticeship and training program that aids the transition for all workers from one job or career to another.

Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?

I hear stories of hardship from people that I interact with everyday, both inside and outside of my district, because the status quo of the Republican and Democratic parties has failed and led to an unstable and precarious socioeconomic position for most Americans.

People are dying every day from lack of access to basic healthcare services because they are unable to afford the costs of care. The fact that medical debt is the primary cause of bankruptcy in America is criminal and immoral. People are being killed and displaced by climate devastation and our politicians continue to either do nothing or take advise from the polluters that caused the problem.
