A wife, mother, sister and daughter, I am also a two-time-9/11-cancer survivor, having lived in Battery Park City since the mid-1990’s. Battling cancer gave me the courage to address another health issue I have grappled with since childhood: alopecia and the resultant body dysmorphia. While I have beaten cancer and shed my hairpiece, the headscarf is evidence that the latter is a work in progress. Yet I show up every day, ready to listen, learn and lead, to build bridges and get things done. I have been member of Manhattan Community Board One for over a decade and Chair of the Battery Park City Committee since 2020. I am a long-time community activist and leader, co-founding Democracy4BPC while also advocating on behalf of the Coaltion for 100% Affordability at 5WTC, Homeowners in Battery Park City and working with BPC Cares. I am also a member of the Staten Island Democrats of Richmond County and the St. George’s Civic Association.
  • A pragmatic, progressive Democrat, I am running to represent the NYS Assembly District 61, which, after re-districting, includes Battery Park City, FiDi and the North Shore of Staten Island. In Albany, I will continue to advocate to make our homes affordable and livable, our small businesses viable, our schools incubators for success, and to keep guns off our streets and out of our schools.
  • As Assemblymember for 61AD, I will continue to stand up to all who treat Lower Manhattan as a piggy bank or dumping ground and will fight to re-open the waterfront in Staten Island, and ensure that the North Shore of Staten Island is forgotten no more. I will continue to support transparent, open dialogue between government and communities on resiliency, affordability, and sustainability. And will oppose all the powers that with decades of bad policy have been forcing the working class, middle class, disabled and seniors out of their homes while allowing the inventory of low income affordable housing to wither and the houseless population to explode.
  • I define "affordability" as tiered housing that includes an equal distribution of Low, Moderate, Middle, Upper Middle income households. NYC has too many vacant luxury condos, coops and rentals. I will fight to increase housing options for all socio-economic brackets, which in turn will increase diversity, slow down gentrification and preserve communities. No one should be forced from their home due to.spiraling rent or property tax increases.
I am a strong proponent of sensible gun control, keeping guns off the streets and out of our schools.

I stand out, loud and proud with the LGBTQ community.

I support a woman's right to choose what happens to her body - and am fighting to keep government out of our bedrooms.

I support universal healthcare and united community schools.

I am a member of the Coalition for 100% Affordability at 5 World Trade Center.

I support canceling student debt.

I advocate for open, public spaces and more green spaces throughout NYS.

I will fight to finally get The Prohibition Against Eviction Without Good Cause passed.

I support the Green New Deal and the Build Public Renewables Act, which will create jobs as well as address climate change.

I believe housing is a human right and that our State needs to recognize that congregate shelters are not a viable solution to houselessness. The focus must be two-fold: First intervening to prevent persons at risk from BECOMING houseless (this includes children aging out for foster care and the recently decarcerated) and Second, creating PERMANENT housing options with appropriate support services for houseless individuals, couples and families.
