|- Housing is one of the basic human needs, and we have too many people in our community who have been forced out of their housing due to little more than greed. In Pitt County, 50% of renters report having trouble affording their home, and in Edgecombe County, that number is 40%. We need to drastically increase the supply of available housing locally and across the state, and we must work to provide greater assistance to those most at risk of losing their homes.
- North Carolina’s Constitution says that the State Legislature has an obligation to appropriately fund education in our state. Right now, the current leadership of the NC General Assembly is failing to meet this critical obligation, and it is our students who will pay the long-term price. I will continue to do everything in my power to stand up for students, parents, and teachers of our state, and fight to secure the resources they need to do their jobs right.
- Looking to the future, few things are as important as making sure Eastern North Carolina is on a continued path of job growth and economic development. We must continue to work with local leaders to develop a flexible and dependable economic development policy that attracts new business to the area while retaining and growing existing businesses. We must also strengthen our Community College system to adapt to new industry trends to ensure a dependable and prepared workforce to fill the in-demand jobs of the future.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
