Kansas City Sales Tax Increase (April 2010)
There was a Kansas City Sales Tax Increase measure on the April 13 ballot in Wyandotte County for voters in the city of Kansas City.
This measure was approved
- YES 6,074 (70.03%)
- NO 2,599 (29.97%)[1]
This measure sought to increase the city sales taxes by a further three-eights of a cent which would raise around $6 million to help pay for public safety and infrastructure in neighborhoods within the city.[2] Since it was approved the sales tax will be in place for a further ten years.[3] Supporters of the measure had stressed the need for better infrastructure, such as sidewalks in neighborhoods, in order to ensure public safety.[4]
