Kansas Supreme Court upholds woman's rape conviction
March 4, 2010
Kansas: On Friday, February 26, the Kansas Supreme Court upheld the conviction of Mary Ann Wright in a 2005 decision by the Butler County District Court. Wright was convicted of rape in 2005 after an assault on a female massage customer. Wright then appealed to the state Supreme Court saying that insufficient evidence to convict her of rape by force or fear, however, the court upheld the ruling saying that jury unanimity is required for the crime charge, but is not required as to the specific means as to which the crime is preformed.[1]
