Kansas Tax Court nominees approved by Senate committee
February 14, 2011
Topeka, Kansas: The Kansas State Assessment and Taxation Committee unanimously approved the nominations of state Sen. Janis Lee and Trevor Wohlford to the Kansas Court of Tax Appeals on January 18, 2011. Now, the full Senate must vote on whether or not to approve these candidates to the court.
Sen. Janis Lee (36th District) has been a state senator for 20 years and was nominated to be the chief hearing officer of the Tax Court. In this position, she will oversee the contracted hearing officers of the Small Claims and Expedited Hearing Division. Wohlford, who has served on the Tax Court for the last six years, was nominated to fill the spot vacated by Rebecca Crotty when she was appointed to the Kansas Third Judicial District.[1]
