2014

Gongora highlighted the following issues on his campaign website:

Vision:

The Fontana Unified School District has the potential of being a leading institution of learning. This can be achieved through:

  • Effective and innovative instructional programs that engages students
  • Promote safe and positive learning environments that encourage students to become ethical and productive citizens to the local as well as national and global economies
  • Consensus building with parents, community leaders, and school faculty focusing on student success as the one and only priority
  • Enhance After-School Programs to supplement school day instruction

Goals:

Kareem’s campaign is invested into achieving the best opportunities for Fontana's students. As a graduate of the Fontana Unified School District, he is looking to ensure Fontana Unified schools operate at their full capacity, and exceed expectations by:

  • Early college preparation and workforce skill development
  • Maintaining decision and fiscal transparency as well as oversight of the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP)
  • Collaborate with students, parents, and schools to highlight importance and maintain the integrity of Fontana Unified School District’s goals, mission statement, and learner outcomes.

Communication:

It is essential to bridge and increase opportunities for all stakeholders to interact in order to create a positive learning atmosphere.

  • Community
    • Partner with community leaders and businesses to gauge the needs of the emerging workforce of tomorrow.
  • Teachers
    • Listening to teachers concerns and encouraging an environment that fosters collaboration amongst peers. Teachers are one of the district’s most valuable resource and direct change-agents. I will work with teachers towards continuing facilitating a learning environment that caters to their strengths and challenges students.
  • Parents/Students
    • It is important to remain transparent and provide access to information necessary to building a physically and emotionally safe learning environment. Parents and students should be able to connect with representatives of the district. We can all learn from each other and I look towards ensuring this.[12]
