Karen A. Murphy Jensen
Karen A. Murphy Jensen was a judge of the Second Circuit Court in Caroline County, Maryland.[1] She joined the court on November 5, 1999.[2][3] Murphy retired on February 29, 2016.[4]
Education
Jensen received her undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware in 1977 and her J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1980.[2]
Career
Before she became a judge, Jensen served as an assistant county solicitor for Anne Arundel County.[2]

Elections
2016
Jensen filed on December 31, 2015, to run for re-election in 2016. On February 5, 2016, she withdrew from the race. It was unknown at the time of her withdrawal whether the election would still be held between the two challengers, Nicholas Iliff and Jonathan Newell, or whether the governor would appoint someone to the vacancy.[5]
On February 12, the Maryland State Board of Elections announced that the election for Murphy's seat would be cancelled. Instead, Governor Larry Hogan would appoint a successor to a two-year term who would run in the 2018 election.[4]
