Noteworthy cases
Israel Mata appealed a life sentence he received in a jury trial before Texas District 186, complaining that "the trial court erred in allowing the jury to hear evidence that Mata was known to carry guns and was a drug dealer".[6] He was convicted of killing 13 year-old Beatrice Diaz during a drive-by shooting. Mata appealed his case to the Fourth District, where Judge Angelini affirmed the ruling of the lower court, and denied Mata's motion for a mistrial.[7]
