Campaign themes
Bodner's campaign website lists three main issues:
- Jobs: "Oregon's unemployment rate has been consistently higher than the national rate in spite of the numerous opportunities our great state provides. Using Best Management Practices, we can revitalize our Natural Resources industries: Timber, Fishing, Farming and Ranching and develop our Tourist industry. Creation of a government efficiency commission can identify what we want our state's "core functions of government" to be and transfer non-essential jobs to the private sector and eliminate wasteful programs."
- Public Safety: "This is one of government's top priorities whether at national, state, county or city level. We need dedicated funding to ensure safe communities and roads, while maintaining jail and prison systems that keep criminals where they belong, out of society."
- Education: "Approximately one-third of Oregon students in public schools do not graduate high school. Of those who do about 50% are functionally illiterate. Rewarding poorly performing schools with more money will not solve the problem, only a healthy competitive learning environment will. Parents need to have choice as to what schools their children attend. Let's allow vouchers that follow the student to their school of choice, thereby creating a healthy competitive atmosphere."
