Karen Byrd is the Division 5 member of the Boone County Board of Education in Kentucky. She ran unopposed and won re-election by default in the general election on November 4, 2014. Byrd currently serves as board chair.[1]

Byrd has served on the Boone County Board of Education for over 15 years. She is also a member of the School Curriculum Assessment and Accountability Committee, a position appointed by the governor.[2]

The election in Boone County featured three seats up for general election on November 4, 2014. There was no primary election. Division 2 incumbent Maria A. Brown faced challenger Carrie Cox, Division 4 incumbent Bonnie J. Rickert faced challenger Aaron Houston Gillum and Division 5 incumbent Karen Byrd ran unopposed.

Incumbents Brown, Rickert and Byrd were all re-elected.
