2016
The mayor and nine seats on the Tulsa City Council were up for election in 2016. The filing deadline was April 13, 2016, and there was a primary election on June 28, 2016. A candidate was able to win a seat outright in the primary by winning 50 percent or more of the vote. A general election was held on November 8, 2016, for races with two candidates or races where no candidates received 50 percent of the primary vote.
Gilbert was the only candidate to file for the District 5 seat in 2016. She was declared the winner of the seat following the filing deadline due to a lack of opposition.[2]
2014
The city of Tulsa, Oklahoma held nonpartisan city council elections on November 4, 2014. A primary election took place on June 24, 2014, for races in which more than two candidates filed to run. In District 5, incumbent Karen Gilbert ran unopposed.[3]
