Karen Howze
Karen Howze was a magistrate judge for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. She was appointed to the court in 2002.[1]
Education
Howze received her undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California in 1972 and her J.D. from Hastings College of Law in 1977.[1]
Professional career
Howze began her professional career as a newspaper reporter and editor. In 1981, she was one of the founding editors of USA Today and in 1989 became a news executive with Gannett Co, Inc. In 1991, Howze established a law practice and media consulting firm. Prior to joining the court, she was a special master for the family division of the Superior Court. From 2001 to 2002, Howze was a staff member with the American Bar Association Center on Children in the Law. She was appointed to the court in 2002.[1]
