Campaign themes

2014

Smith's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]

I am a former Republican who was very active in the Republican Party, but am now a Democrat, very middle of the road, still fiscally conservative, but socially liberal. My father was a very active Republican politician who told me when dealing with other people’s money you have to be very wise with it because people work hard for their money. I believe this. I also believe that people are wise enough to make social decisions for themselves. I tend to be a live and let live person.[2]
