Karen Nakasone nominated to O`ahu Circuit Court
August 16, 2011
Hawaii: Yesterday Governor Neil Abercrombie nominated Karen Nakasone to serve on the O`ahu First Circuit Court. Nakasone would succeed Sabrina S. McKenna, who is now serving on the Hawaii Supreme Court. Before joining the court, the nomination must be confirmed by the Hawaii Senate. [1]
Since 1996, Nakasone has been a Deputy Public Defender in the capital city of Honolulu. In the announcement of the appointment, Gov. Abercrombie said, "Karen Nakasone reflects a broad and deep understanding of Hawai'i, its rich heritage and recognition of the role the judiciary plays in contemporary society. She provides a fresh quality and judicial temperament which will serve well as a judge of the First Circuit."[1]
