I am a DVUSD alum and parent who has lived in the district for over 50 years, thus a long-time community member and taxpayer, as well as an experienced educator who holds a doctorate in Organizational Leadership.
  • I want to focus on rigorous academics with smaller class sizes, using curriculum that is evidenced based to ensure that all students learn how to read, are able to write, and fully understand math operations and concepts.
  • I want to ensure that our educators are given the proper training, resources, and support they need in order to provide our children with an excellent academic education that they deserve.
  • I want to ensure that there is fiscal responsibility in our district, with mindful spending of taxpayers' dollars that directly benefit our students and teachers. Policies need to be followed. If there is no policy, or a policy that does not best serve the purpose of teaching children, then we need to change the policy and/or write new policies.
I am passionate about strong, back-to-basics academic curriculum, specifically with evidence-based, systematic, explicit phonics instruction taught to fidelity in the Kindergarten through third grade classrooms, which will help those one in five students in every classroom who has dyslexia, as well as benefit all students in reading, writing, and spelling. Effective reading instruction is needed, and will raise test scores, both in reading and in math.
An elected official must be honest and have integrity. People who hold office must be able to communicate with, listen to, and consider the views of all stakeholders. Having the ability to conduct business in a professional manner, even when not everyone agrees, is paramount. Being able to work together as five members on a school board, while focusing on what is best for our students, is crucial.
I am a lifelong learner. I possess a drive to do hard things and am very goal driven. If I don't know something, I do the research to figure it out. I also value communication and hearing what others have to say. Sometimes we can learn a lot if we talk less and listen more. I am very passionate about helping children as they are our future!
