Karen Powell

Karen Powell was an unsuccessful candidate for a seat on the newly created Montana 1st Judicial District Court in 2010.

Supreme Court bid

Powell submitted an application to the Montana Judicial Nominating Commission for the Montana Supreme Court in 2009. The panel reviewed the applications, conducted interviews of the candidates, and recommended three to the Governor. Powell was not one of the three recommended.[1][2]

Education

Powell received her undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University in 1993 and her law degree from Stanford University in 2000.[1]

Professional career

Powell served as the deputy state auditor from 2005-2006, deputy securities commissioner from 2004-2006 and in policy and litigation in 2003-2004. From 2001-2002, Powell worked as a civil litigator in the attorney general's office.[1]

Biographical information

Powell is married with two children. She is interested in local running, cycling and triathlon competitions.[1]
