Karen R. Williams
Karen R. Williams was a circuit court judge for the Thirtieth Circuit Court in Tennessee.[1] She was appointed by former Governor Don Sundquist on March 28, 1996, and was elected to the court the following August.[2] She was re-elected in 2000 and 2006. Williams left office in August 2014 when she did not seek re-election.[3][4]
Education
Williams received her undergraduate degree in music from the University of Arkansas in 1972 and her J.D. degree from the University of Memphis School of Law in 1976.[3]
Career
Williams served as a deputy personnel commissioner from January 1995 until her appointment to the Thirtieth Circuit Court in March 1996. She has also previously served as a state representative of the Tennessee House of Representatives, representing District 90 for twelve years. Williams worked as an attorney in private practice as well and was a partner at the law firm of Coleman, Sorak & Williams. Before that, she was an associate at the firm of Apperson, Crump, Duzane & Maxwell.[2]
