|When elected, I am prepared to sit down with my colleagues in the Legislature to increase funding for our school districts, enact responsible regulations for PFAS and sulfide mining, make health care more affordable for Wisconsinites, and expand broadband access in our rural communities. I am ready to get to work for every citizen of the 89th Assembly District. I will be accountable to the people who elect me.
I’m not a professional politician—I’m a working dad and I’m running for this office to build Northeast Wisconsin into a place where my children will want to stay to raise their own families. We have major PFAS contamination sites in this State (the largest of which is right here in Marinette County): We need to reintroduce the CLEAR Act, which will direct the DNR to regulate PFAS contamination in our water. The bill would also give the DNR the additional staff and resources they need to combat PFAS in Wisconsin.
- Our hospitals and clinics, especially those in rural Wisconsin, that have been placed under considerable financial stress due to the Covid-19 pandemic: We need to use Federal Medicaid dollars to expand BadgerCare—this will save our taxpayers their hard-earned dollars and also expand insurance coverage to over 180,000 more working people.
- We have an opportunity gap in our rural schools: We need to restore our commitment to fund at least two-thirds of our K-12 costs. That two-thirds funding is a floor, not a ceiling—many of our rural school districts will need additional support.
• I will support legislation to strengthen our hospitals and clinics, especially those in rural Wisconsin, that have been placed under financial stress due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This starts with using Federal dollars to expand BadgerCare, saving the State $185-million a year and expanding insurance coverage to over 180,000 more citizens.
• I will support legislation to restore the State’s commitment to fund at least two-thirds of K-12 costs and provide additional support to maintain small rural school districts.
• I will reintroduce the CLEAR Act to regulate dangerous PFAS contamination in Wisconsin and reach across the aisle to develop meaningful legislation to protect the quality of clean drinking water for all our citizens.
• I will also support the restoration of our “Prove It First” mining law, which prevented sulfide mining in our State for almost twenty years until it was repealed in 2017.
• I will support legislation to bring safe, affordable, 25Mbps broadband internet service to every corner of Wisconsin.
I look forward to building relationships on both sides of the aisle in the State Legislature. Working together, we can restore our state’s proud traditions of a clean environment; great schools; good jobs; and a common-sense, people-first approach to addressing the needs of our citizens and our communities.
