Heard-Price is the owner of Windsong Retirement Community. She is also a member of the Colorado Springs Human Relations Commission and is on the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority. She has served as the president of the Trailblazer Elementary School PTA.[1]

Four of the seven seats on the Colorado Springs School District 11 Board of Education were up for election on November 3, 2015. All four seats up for election were at-large seats.

Incumbents Nora Brown and Elaine Naleski filed for re-election by the August 28 deadline. They were seeking new terms against challengers Dan Ajamian, Martin Herrera, Jeff Kemp, Theresa Null, and Karla Heard-Price. Brown and Naleski won re-election and newcomers Herrera and Null also secured seats on the board.[2]
