I grew up attending Granite Schools: Hillsdale Elementary, West Lake Junior High, and Granger High School, and was a missionary in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Utah and my career was in Human Resources and as a piano teacher. Married to former West Valley City Mayor Mike Winder, we are the parents of four great kids who are also products of Granite Schools (Farnsworth, Valley, and Granger).

As a parent, I have been passionate about helping our local schools be the best that they can be. I volunteered for years in the PTA (twice a school PTA president) and on school community councils. In 2014, I saw that there was not a single Granite School Board Member with children still in school, and I ran for the school board to provide a much-needed parent voice.

On the school board, my peers have elected me president of the board. I am proud of leading the nationwide search for our current rockstar superintendent—Dr. Rich Nye. We are working to remodel and build new schools, provide competitive wages and benefits for teachers, and ensure our kids get the world-class education they deserve.
  • THE KIDS- I will continue to support quality education for our students. They are my top priority.
  • PARENTS & TAX PAYERS- I will continue to support parental and community involvement in our classrooms, as well as maximizing precious tax dollars.
  • TEACHERS & SUPPORT STAFF- Granite School District has the best employees around, and I want to support all on our team to do the best job they can.
Education innovation, parental involvement, teacher support, and taxpayer frugality.
