Hi, I'm Kate!

By the day, I’m a brand manager in the medical aesthetics industry - where I help our products grow through smart strategy, clear communication, and bold thinking. That same energy and focus are exactly what I want to bring to Wendell’s future: a thoughtful, people-first approach that balances progress with preservation.

At home, I’m a proud mom of three and wife to a small business owner. Our family has deep roots in the Wendell community, and we care so much about its future. Whether I’m cheering from the sidelines of the ball field, walking downtown, or spending time at our parks, I’m always reminded how lucky we are to live in a town like Wendell.

Outside of work, I’m an avid equestrian, artist, and lifelong lover of the outdoors. I’m happiest on horseback or exploring all of the natural beauty our area has to offer.

My most meaningful work has always come from being involved - whether it's listening to neighbors, volunteering at my kids' school, supporting local initiatives or helping solve everyday problems. Being involved isn't just part of my role, it's who I am. I believe community engagement is the foundation of good and honest leadership.
  • Responsible Growth that Preserves our Charm:

I will advocate responsible, sustainable growth and development. Wendell is special - and without careful consideration of HOW our town is developed, we run the risk of becoming just another Raleigh suburb.

I love that no matter where you are in our town, you *know* you're in Wendell. That's that charm that folks speak of. We've got to preserve that - and that is done through responsible growth.

We also need to ensure that our infrastructure keeps pace with our housing. We need balanced zoning decisions that reflect Wendell's character and long-term needs -- not just short-term profits.
  • Transparent, People-First Leadership: Wendellians - both in-town and in the ETJ - deserve to feel represented in our town's government. I will push for more community input opportunities, clearer communication, and policies that prioritize Wendell families and small businesses over outside interests. I believe Wendell needs bold leadership, honest communication, and someone who truly listens. I want to restore our citizens' confidence in town government, the belief that their voices are heard, and that the decisions we make today will serve our generations of tomorrow. As commissioner, I will be present, accessible, and deeply engaged with the community. I pledge to not allow special interests or personal gain guide what I stand for.
  • A thriving, Inclusive Future for All: From Wendell Falls, to the ETJs, downtown and all in-between. Whether you were born here or you packed up your whole life to make a new one in this incredible town. We're all Wendellians, and we deserve leadership who views us as such. We've seen the division that has happened in this town - it feels like two separate municipalities at times. But, we need to work harder, together, to create unity. That means investing in parks, public safety, infrastructure, and sustainable solutions that serve both current residents and future generations.
Conservation and land protection

Civic engagement and voter access
Small business and economic vitality

Community character and quality of life
1) Integrity and Transparency. They tell the truth, even when it's hard. They make decisions openly and communicate clearly, and forwardly with the public they serve. They are accountable to the people, not special interests.

2) Community-First Mindset. They listen intently to residents and consider all voices - not just the loudest, or the ones with the deepest pockets. They prioritize the community over their own personal advancement.

3) Thoughtful. They approach challenges with long-term visions rather than quick or convenient fixes. They seek balanced solutions that protect what makes their town special while realizing the importance and inevitability of growth.

4) Accessibility and Responsiveness. They show up and make themselves available when they are needed. They respond to questions, concerns and needs with empathy and action.

5) Stewardship. They value partnerships and are willing to build consensus rather than push a personal agenda. They treat natural resources, land, and community heritage with care and respect. They understand they do not own the town, but are it's temporary steward of it's future.
1) Legislative and policy oversight

2) Budgetary and financial responsibility

3) Appointment and oversight of town staff, leadership, and advisory boards

4) Preside over public meetings

5) Participate in public town events

6) Engage in land use and planning decisions
Like many women, I've faced moments where I felt pulled in too many directions at once. And yet, there were times when I questioned whether I was doing enough at home, at work, or in the community. But over time, I've come to see that showing up - even imperfectly - is so powerful.

That taught me resilience. It taught me how to listen, prioritize, be transparent, and empathetic. And it's given me a passion for empowering others to do the same.

Leadership isn't about having everything figured out. It's about bringing your full self to the table, being honest about the hard stuff, and staying grounded in your purpose.
Experience - depending on how you define that - may be helpful, but it's definitely not everything. In fact, it has the potential to invite outside special interests into the fold.

I'm absolutely not a politician. And I think that's what makes me such a great candidate for this seat. Outside of serving on citizen advisory boards or speaking at public hearings, I don't have formal experience, nor aspirations to propel my political career further than Wendell's town hall. What I might lack in experience rubbing elbows with the big wigs at our state capital, I make up for in the ability to provide an unbiased, genuine, citizen's perspective.
I support:

Clear, accessible budgets that are presented in plain language and published in a timely manner

Regular financial reporting with opportunities for public input and questions

Proactive disclosure of large expenditures, contracts, and development incentives - and any internal connections to such.
