Katharine Wade
Katharine Wade is a former Connecticut Commissioner of Insurance. Wade was appointed to the position by Governor Dan Malloy (D) on March 23, 2015. She took office March 24, replacing interim officeholder Anne Melissa Dowling. Wade's appointment was confirmed by the Connecticut Senate on April 14.[1][2][3] Wade stepped down on December 19, 2018.[4]
Biography
Prior to her appointment to statewide office in 2015, Wade spent over two decades as an executive at Cigna, a prominent global health and insurance organization based in Connecticut.[5] During her extensive tenure with Cigna, Wade served in a variety of leadership roles, including vice president of public policy, government affairs and U.S. compliance, public policy director and liaison to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. At Cigna, Wade was heavily involved in the process of implementing new insurance policies under the federal Affordable Care Act.[1]
Wade holds a degree in history from Simmons College.[1]
