I am a career advocate not a career politician. I am running for State Assembly to be your voice in Madison. I have spent years helping make our community a better place by volunteering with our free clinic and local nonprofits like the United Way, Rotary, New Beginnings APFV, DLIA, and more. I am on the State Treasurer's Task Force on property taxes. I am a Town of Delavan Board Supervisor and college professor. I teach health and public administration courses. I am married to my high school sweetheart (23 years) and we have two children. I have learned that when we work together, we can make great things happen, and I want to help us do that at a state level.
Unite people, not divide them. Protect those with preexisting conditions or COVID, while stopping rising health costs. Improve access to free COVID testing. Keep our community healthy, so our economy can bounce back. Improve access to technical training, fully fund our schools, and create middle-class and clean energy jobs. Build a better future for our families. Reflect our values in the capital. Represent you with fairness and integrity. We face challenges. But we can overcome them together. Working hard and getting things done is the Wisconsin way.
It is important to have representatives that have real-world experience and understand what its like to be a resident in the district.
I support fair maps, the People's Maps Commission. I support assigning the task for district review and redistricting to the Legislative Reference Bureau, a nonpartisan state service agency. This is similar to how redistricting is done in Iowa.

Wisconsin's current approach has a problem: conflict of interest - legislators have a vested personal interest in getting re-elected. Thus, a nonpartisan group should be conducting the redistricting and review. Gerrymandering lets politicians pick their voters, rather than the other way around. This is unacceptable and could be viewed as a violation of the 1st Amendment (Freedom of Speech) and 14th Amendment (Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses). Gerrymandering is bad for democracy. Even though Democrats swept all 5 statewide races in 2018, they remained the minority in both houses! It's time to recognize the negative effects of gerrymandering on our democracy.

A transparent, nonpartisan entity should be responsible for this redistricting activity.
