A Hardin County native and alumna of the county's public school system, Katherine Leonard is a political newcomer who is a good listener and proven problem-solver. She's running to put the Commonwealth to work for the common good, and to take empathy and honesty with her to Frankfort. Ms. Leonard holds an Associate’s of Applied Science in Web Development & Administration from Elizabethtown Community & Technical College. During her time at the college, she earned awards for her persuasive writing and her knowledge of database systems. She also earned a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from Eastern Kentucky University for Graphic Design, which she paired with a minor in Computer Science. Soon after graduation, she was hired as a web & graphic designer for a software services company in northern Kentucky, which provides inventory management support to thousands of small businesses in the automotive recycling industry. She continues to work there today, having taken her position remote to return to her roots in Hardin County.
  • Empathy & honesty: Ms. Leonard is a good listener and an excellent communicator
  • A new voice for Hardin County: as an elder millennial, Ms. Leonard has experienced the unique challenges of a changing world
  • Proven problem solver: as the first to tell you she doesn't have all the answers, Ms. Leonard is a dedicated researcher and diligent at finding solutions
Transportation & Infrastructure: Elizabethtown and Hardin County are at the intersection of the I-65 north-south corridor and Kentucky's east-west parkway system, and much of its appeal to businesses and tourism is its accessibility by highway; however, it hasn't had regional mass transit capabilities beyond a Greyhound stop since L&N Railroad discontinued service in 1971, and the Greyhound stop has since been moved to Sonora.

Energy & Environment - Climate change is the existential crisis of the 21st century, and Elizabethtown and Hardin County are poised to have a role in shaping the future of green technologies, beginning with Ford's Blue Oval SK EV battery manufacturing facility.

Labor & Small Business - As community heavily involved in automotive, packaging, construction, and other manufacturing industries, Elizabethtown and Hardin County employers rely on the work of thousands of union laborers. The community is also a hub for small business, with over 60% of businesses in the county having 4 or fewer employees.
