Kathy has been lucky enough to own a home on the Cape for nearly 20 years. A Public Servant for over 20 years, Kathy is Chair of the Jonathan Bourne Public Library Trustees, Trustee of the Bourne Historical Society, active member of the Bourne Wastewater Advisory Committee, The Bourne Affordable Housing Trust, and the Bourne Cultural Council. She is an experienced Realtor with Kinlin Grover Compass in North Falmouth and has held managerial positions in Fortune 500 Companies as well as owning 2 small businesses and establishing 2 Community Theaters. Kathy hosts and produces "Upper Cape Spotlight" on Bourne TV and on youtube.
  • Our Environment! Mashpee, Falmouth and Bourne are in uniquely vulnerable locations for the affects of Climate Change. From the threat of Sea Level Rise, to the pollution of our salt and fresh waters, we need someone who understands our issues, will collaborate with experts and fight for funding and better policies at the State House. The Upper Cape must implement the proper tools for Coastal Resiliency to minimize flood damage during storms for our streets, our homes, our beaches, our towns. I am a vocal opponent of the Joint Base Cape Cod's proposal to site a Machine Gun Range on our Sole Source Aquifer. Our Ponds, Lakes and Rivers must be studied and solutions implemented to prevent cynobacteria blooms and beach closures.
  • Housing - As an experienced Realtor, and member of the Bourne Affordable Housing Trust, I see the drastic changes in our housing costs and inventory. We need Workforce Housing in particular. I am working with the Housing Assistance Corporation and other agencies to find housing for displaced families and individuals. I applaud the historic Housing Bond Bill, esp the "Seasonal Community" designation to help us increase year round rentals on Cape. I will pursue every avenue to secure housing for Seniors, Veterans, Working Families and Young people esp. existing residents. We should be renovating or repurposing on already disturbed land and preserve our open space. We must use every tool to manage wastewater simultaneously.
  • The New Cape Cod Canal Bridges! As one of the largest and most expensive Transportation Projects in the US, we need someone who is looking out for our residents and local businesses. I share concerns about the local access roads, to minimize the headaches during construction and beyond. Homes will be taken by Eminent Domain and I will fight to ensure people get fair value for their houses and opportunities to find a new home. I will be a loud voice for mitigation for Bourne and its residents.
The Environment, particularly Clean Water.... clean drinking water, clean water in our Canal, Bays, Beaches, Estuaries, Ponds, Lakes and Rivers are what initially drew me to run for State Rep. I want to establish a Clean Water Caucus at the State House to bring together all those who represent beaches you can't swim in, or waters you can't drink. Together we will be a force for change, for funding, for solutions before its too late.

I will also advocate for Human Rights. Women still have to travel long distances from the Cape to get medical abortions, crucial when a fetal abnormality is detected or the life of the mother is at risk.

Native American Rights are a major focus, land reclamation and federal designations are key.
Profiles in Courage by John F Kennedy. Courage to stand up for what is right is now sorely needed in our world.
Transparency * Accessibility * Advocacy * Honesty

Sadly in this state, where Democracy in America began, we have a state legislative systems that benefits those in power over the many, and critical decisions are made without representation. I believe it is time for a change. Our leadership must be transparent, our votes must be debated and the results known.
I believe a state representative must be accessible to all constituents, not just a select few. A state representative should not favor those in the same party, the same town or those with the same ideologies, but be open to ideas and concerns of all the people. Open office hours in all towns is just the start.
I will be an advocate for the environment, housing, human rights, & projects that directly affect our residents and businesses. I will be an advocate for those who think they don't have a voice.
An honest politician appears to now be a rare individual.

I will tell you the good the bad and the ugly because you deserve to know and make informed choices.
I believe the core responsibility is to Represent your constituents. Not a pet project or a select group. We must get the most bang for our buck from the state and advocate to get more funding and shine a spotlight on our oft overlooked region.
In addition to funding and policy making, the core responsibility of a State Rep is to help others. As a graduate of Holy Cross College I have been guided by the principle to be "men and women for and with others." Public Service should not be about me.. its about you. Its about making the world, even our little piece of paradise, a better, more compassionate place. My work with housing and the environment is not for me... I have a home and I love our environment. It is for those who come after me, our children and grandchildren. They must inherit a cleaner, fairer and more accessible Cape Cod.
Executive Assistant to the President of CBS News in New York. I had the job about 2 years until the president retired and I moved on to a better position. I worked with many news personalities from Dan Rather to Mike Wallace and Harry Reasoner. I met US Presidents, I assistant directed the Weekend News, I watched the current news flashed for anything worthy of adding as breaking news to the Nightly News with Dan Rather. The toughest part was coordinating the chauffeur for the vice presidents when the president was out of town.
I learned that celebrities or "important people" are just like us. Dan Rather would forget his briefcase in our office, so I'd call him to let him know... he said..." its just my peanut butter and jelly sandwich , I'll get it later." He was the Nightly News anchor and editor. He was a fantastic mentor and human being. I am most fortunate to have this as my first job...
I already know Gov Healey and Lt. Gov Kim Driscoll. They are the leaders of our team. As such we need them to listen to the legislators as a group and as individuals, to understand our goals and help make them reality. We in turn help them carry out initiatives, explaining policy to our constituents, and working with all the team to make MA a evener better place to live.
Securing Federal Funding for the Cape Cod Canal Bridges.

Find housing and work for our immigrant, veteran and existing residents.
Explore all options for fight Climate Change and plan for Coastal Resiliency.
Develop and implement Housing to reduce the cost of housing, increase inventory without destroying our character or environment.

Eliminate the opioid crisis with stronger policies and more education.
I believe its beneficial to have experience and a love for public service. This job is to help others, not yourself.
I already have been collaborating with candidates in our region because I believe in them and because so many of our issues are regional and can only be solved by working together. Other legislators are looking forward to my joining the team because of my advocacy and passion about our environment. Legislation is not a game for a lone wolf.
Our State Auditor, Diana Dizolgio. I have known Diana for several years, from when she was initially on the campaign trail, and I always admire her tenacity, her resiliency, her belief in making MA a better, more transparent and equitable state.
I fully support the Death with Dignity or Medical Aid in Dying resolution. I have spoken with both proponents of this issue who are on the forefront, trying to convince legislators to approve it and to people whose families have wished they had to opportunity for a loved one to end their days in peace. I recently lost a best friend to cancer. Fortunately, while her fight was long, the end was quick and her pain managed by approved medications. However we often discussed what might happen if the pain was horrific. She knew the end was coming, her doctors knew the end was coming and yet they could not give her the peace of mind of having control over her own demise. We would have to travel to Vermont if things got awful at at time when traveling was the last thing she wanted to do.

Multiple states have enacted the Death with Dignity with no horrifying consequences. A team of doctors must approve the prescription, only the individual can request it for themselves, its a white powder added to 4 oz. of water that you drink and drift off to sleep. Only half of the people prescribed even use the medication but they all have the peace of mind knowing if its needed, its there.
I have been directly touched by this on many occasions.

My father died of cancer at age 57, years ago. He said he felt like he was hit by a truck, but there was nothing we could do to help him. My cousin died from cancer and I will never forget her screaming in agony because the meds couldn't touch the pain. Allowing this resolution is not playing God, its being compassionate and giving the individual the choice and control over their own lives.
An amendment to House Bill 864 to Clean lakes and waterways to include Ponds and also add funding to find solutions and implement them

Its shameful that such a democratic state doesn't lead the way in transparency and accountability. I will do so in my district and fight to bring about significant change on Beacon Hill.
