Kathleen Mead
Kathleen Mead was a judge of the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona. She assumed office in 2013. She left office in 2022.
Mead ran for re-election for judge of the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona. She won in the retention election on November 3, 2020.
Mead was initially appointed by Gov. Jan Brewer (R) on October 7, 2013, to replace retired Judge Helene Abrams.[1] She retired from the court on December 31, 2022.[2]
Biography
Mead received her undergraduate degree in sociology from South Dakota State University in 1980, her paralegal certificate from the Denver Paralegal Institute in 1983, and her J.D. from the Arizona State University College of Law in 1988. Prior to her appointment as judge, Mead held the following positions:[1]
- 2003–2013: Commissioner, Maricopa County Superior Court
- 1994-2003: Attorney/Sole practitioner
- 1993–1994: Maricopa County Attorney's Office
- 1988–1993: Clerk, Arizona Court of Appeals
- 1984–1988: Paralegal, Beer & Toone
- 1983–1984: Legal secretary, Warner Angle
- 1981–1983: Employee, Long Building Technologies (Colorado)
- 1980–1981: Employee, Rapid City Area Schools and Rapid City West Hospitals (South Dakota)

Arizona held elections for 80 superior court judgeships on November 8, 2016. Sixty-three of those seats were up for retention election. Three counties—Maricopa, Pima, and Pinal—use retention elections for their superior courts.[3]
