Kathleen Murray is a fresh face to the political scene who cuts through the politicking and gets to the issues that matter. Today, she is a proud mother of two, a leading business executive in her industry, a small business owner, and a passionate chef whose revival of her grandmother’s Italian recipes is being featured by the Food Network in 2022. However, her independence and success today were never a foregone conclusion. As her determination and deep empathy for working families is the result of her own struggles as a single mother facing financial hardships and life’s obstacles.
  • Affordability & Accountability - As a tech executive who has spent her entire career in the private sector, Kathleen understands and has always been held accountable to the bottom line. Employees don’t get paid, services can’t be rendered, and companies can’t exist unless business leaders produce, control expenses, and are held responsible for mismanagement. Kathleen will take the perspective of a business owner and taxpayer to Springfield and work to cut waste and balance budgets. She will vote NO on any legislative pay raises and will introduce legislation to credit Illinoisans back any increase to their state income tax at the rate of inflation in the prior year.
  • Keeping our Neighborhoods Safe - Our community is one that Kathleen has chosen to remain in because of the safety it provides and the nurturing environment it provides her children. Due to the policies enacted by the Democrats in Springfield, that is no longer the case. The people of the 21st Senate District cannot sit back and watch as our communities deteriorate and are riddled with crime. We don’t want to worry about our children leaving the house to go to the mall, the movies, or even schools and fear they will never return home. That is why the time is now for inspired leadership and Kathleen is willing to do the hard work it will take to keep our community and families safe.
  • Empowering the People & Parents - Kathleen will push for two initiatives rebalance the equation and put the power back in the people’s hands
After experiencing the Oakbrook Mall shooting first hand, Kathleen made the decision to run for office and is on a mission to prevent crime & keep our neighborhoods safe. As a single mom who has struggled financially to continue to afford raising her children in Illinois, she is committed to making Illinois more affordable by cutting taxes, cutting waste and balancing state budgets by applying her 20+ years of experience as a business executive in the tech, plumbing and hardware sectors. Additionally, as a small business owner she is determined to develop pro-business policies to help Illinois small businesses by removing burdensome regulations and taxes that have fostered a hostile environment for commerce and continue to drive small business out of Illinois. Kathleen also believes in empowering parents in decisions pertaining to their children.
