|Kathleen attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, earning a BA degree in chemistry and BS degree in nursing. She later attended the University of Utah, where she earned an MSN degree in nurse-midwifery. Kathleen served for 12 years in the United States Air Force as a staff nurse and certified nurse-midwife. She and her husband met in the Air Force, and they moved to the great state of California in 2006. Kathleen became a stay-at-home mom to homeschool their two children.
Kathleen's father was an immigrant from Mexico. He worked as a physician for the Veterans Administration Hospital (now the Veterans Health Administration), and the family moved frequently as a result of his VA assignments. Kathleen's experience of living in a variety of communities in the heartland of America, raising a family, serving in the military, working as a certified nurse-midwife, and volunteering for political campaigns has given her a breadth of practical and applied knowledge and wisdom. This experience will enhance her work for everyday Californians, rather than government interests.
- "It is a Senator's duty to protect the liberty of the people." Kathleen will work to Repeal AB5 in order to restore the freedom for all Californians to choose the work they desire, and support small businesses in their use of independent contractors and freelancers.
- Kathleen will fight for lower taxes in order to protect property ownership and the building of small businesses, which are the heartbeat of our State economy.
- Kathleen will work to protect 2nd Amendment freedoms, encourage community safety, and protect the rights of the unborn.
