Kathryn D. Karayannis is an associate judge on the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois. She was chosen by the Illinois Supreme Court, and her appointment was announced on October 5, 2011. She took office on October 17.[1][2][3]

Karayannis was reappointed in 2015 to a term expiring on June 30, 2019.[4]

Education

Karayannis received her undergraduate degree from Valparaiso University in 1982 and her J.D. degree from Northern Illinois University in 1988.[5]

Career

Karayannis worked as an assistant state's attorney for Kane County in 1988 until she joined the circuit court in 2011. For her last ten years in the state's attorney's office, she served in the child support division.[5][3]
