|I went to public school outside of Flint in a small town called Montrose. I still remember the history class where the teacher showed a powerful movie about the victory of the Flint Sit Down Strike in 1937. I immediately understood that the working class has real power when we stand together and fight.
I want to run as a candidate in the Flint area to spread the message of Flint to all of Michigan: that fighting the system is life and death important. I was horrified but not surprised when vicious greed poisoned the water in Flint, Michigan, beginning in 2014. I watched with pride when adults and children in Flint stood up for themselves. They forced State government to admit there was a water crisis and that people were poisoned. Working people in Flint showed determination to expose the truth, and their courage inspired support from others.
I have watched again with pride as a new generation takes up the fight - this time against police brutality and systemic racism. I would say to the new generation that working class solidarity will be the key that unlocks the next phase of struggle.- Pay for the crises we're facing by taking back the wealth that the richest 1 percent steals from our labor every day.
- Guarantee EVERYONE a job, with a decent wage that keeps up with prices.
- Working people are essential. Organized together, the working class can change the world.
• Hundreds of thousands of people will die because the public health system was not prepared to deal with the virus - or any deadly disease.
• For decades, every government, Democrat or Republican, raided funds from public health just like they stole funds from roads, dams, water and sewage systems, and education.
• Every government gave that stolen money away in tax breaks, subsidies, and outright gifts to a greedy capitalist class. Public money went to their private profit.
We are living through an economy in collapse - made worse because government policies let the virus get out of control.
• Even when their economy was ""expanding,"" the capitalist class was slashing jobs, cutting wages, making jobs temporary, part-time or contracted out.
• The money made in production went into bigger profits, more wealth for the top 1%, and more speculation on Wall Street.
