Elections for the Georgia House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 20, 2014, with runoff elections taking place where necessary on July 22, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. Richard C. Garrett was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while incumbent Katie M. Dempsey was unopposed in the Republican primary. Garrett was defeated by Dempsey in the general election.[5][6][7]

Dempsey is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rome, Rome Junior Service League, Rome Symphony Orchestra, and is President of the Floyd Healthcare Foundation.[14]
