Katie and her family have lived in Olathe for the past seven years. Katie graduated with honors from Park University, earning her Bachelor's of Science degree in Chemistry. Katie worked for an oil pipeline as a quality control specialist for several years. In 2017, Katie decided to make a career change and is currently a financial advisor. Katie spends her spare time staying active with her partner Brandon and her 13 year old son, Quentin, doing cross-fit, hiking, visiting museums and hanging out at the dog park with her 3 dogs. With an eye towards public service, Katie has always aspired to run for office. She will make an excellent representative because she is a pragmatic listener and a consensus builder. Katie is ready to roll up her sleeves and work hard to represent House District 49 in Topeka.

  • Fighting extremism in Topeka: Everyday Kansans have had it with partisan bickering. District 49 deserves pragmatic representation that delivers collaborative solutions to benefit all Kansans.
  • Support senior citizens & their families: Seniors and their caregivers are faced with unique challenges and unexpected expenses. The Kansas Legislature must be proactive by addressing the economic and social concerns that come with supporting senior populations and their families.
  • Protect public school funding: Strong public schools drive strong local economies. Katie will fight the extremists in Topeka who continually attempt to divert state revenue from public schools to far less regulated private schools.

Elected officials must be honest. They must have integrity. They must be problem solvers.

I would like to be a role model and trail blazer for other women.
I was a gymnastic coach during high school and into college. I held this job for five years and enjoyed watching young girls develop their skills and confidence.
The Secret Life of Bees is my favorite book because it is about finding your own way in life & it has a strong female lead character.
I'd want to be a dragon. They're practically invincible, they breathe fire & they are always going on adventures.
Being a young mother raising a child while going to high school and college full-time.
The government should work for the people and it should be run by the people. Experiences in various aspects of life outside of public service are what make a well-rounded public servant.
Our state faces serious budget constraints. This is on the heels of devastating cuts to programs across the board by previous administrations. Covid 19 is negatively impacting our revenue and this will require deliberate decisions. My background lends itself to helping people reach their financial goals. This will serve me well in the Kansas State Legislature.
