Katie G. Dorsett
Katie G. Dorsett (July 8, 1932 - July 6, 2020) was a Democratic member of the North Carolina State Senate, representing District 28. She served as Majority Whip.
Dorsett was on the Greensboro City Council from 1983 to 1986. She then served as County Commissioner for Guilford County from 1986 to 1993. She joined the North Carolina State Senate in 2003 and served in that position until 2011. Dorsett died on July 6, 2020.[1]
Background
Dorsett earned her B.S. from Alcorn State University in 1953. She went on to receive her M.S. from Indiana University in 1955. She then earned her EdD from the University of North Carolina in 1974.
Dorsett is a retired Educator. She was an Associate Professor for North Carolina A&T State University from 1955 to 1988. She then worked as Cabinet Secretary for the North Carolina Department of Administration from 1993 to 2001.
