Biography

Katrina Owens was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. She earned a high school diploma from North Central High School, an associate degree from the Ivy Tech Community College, a bachelor's degree from Indiana Wesleyan University, and a graduate degree from Ball State University in 2014. Her career experience includes working as a consultant.[1]

She is committed to advancing policies that support working families, build inclusive communities, protect human rights, and enhance overall quality of life.

Why Katrina Owens? Katrina Owens is a proven leader with a strong track record of public service. She has served her community in various capacities, including a notable term on the board of directors for the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals. During her tenure, Katrina worked tirelessly to enhance access to higher education and employment opportunities for thousands of Hoosiers.

As a native of Indianapolis, Katrina understands the unique challenges facing her community firsthand. Her experience as an educator in higher education for over a decade further informs her commitment to improving access to quality education and creating economic opportunities for all.
  • Our rights as human beings should be protected by preserving every individuals humanity to ensure we all can live a life of dignity and worthiness of being human. I will stand up for the rights of the people who live in this great state!
  • High levels of inequality economically leads to lower economic growth which leaves a negative social and political impact on our society. This is why I will advocate for and address the inequalities of this states economy to increase employment opportunities, wages, quality healthcare, affordable housing and educational equity.
  • All citizens statewide deserve to have physical structures such as roads/bridges, public transit systems, waterways and statewide broadband internet, hospitals and schools that support the overall quality of life for all Hoosiers.

The most important principle should be the people they are to represent. Which includes all the people not just a fraction.

This was historical for myself, at the age of 20 had a VIP tour of the White House that included a picture with my parents inside the oval office. This was due to having a relative that worked with the former president Clinton administration. And it was at that point I knew that I was destined to do more to help my community.
Taylor's Bakery (Family Owned) was my first employer as a Bakery Clerk while in high school.
The Light We Carry by Michelle Obama. It is important to reflect on one's journey and appreciate the light each of us has within us to overcome life's triumphs and celebrate the wins.
