Campaign themes

2016

Dolan Baumer's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Accountability: Representatives in our State House Need to be Accountable to those who put them in Office.

It is our State and we must hold accountable those who pledged to serve us. We need a fair and equitable budget that does not take more than is reasonable. No longer can one side of the aisle stop progress; no longer can we continue to create programs and services that are unfunded. Katy Dolan Baumer will work as an avid supporter of the people who put her in office to help stop the ballooning budget crisis.

Government Consolidation: Question Number of Governmental Agencies in Illinois.

At a time when units of government are taking resources, and the Governor has set up the taskforce to analyze and make recommendations to curtail the sprawl, we must be a voice in making sure that services and governmental entities that serve the people, offering unduplicated services, are not cut or merged into other entities where service levels may not be as great. The cost of some agencies is small and the return, great. We must focus on perhaps expanding the service levels at those agencies, using the same dollars, and not increasing the burden on taxpayers.

Intergovernmental Cooperation: Encourage Joint Operations And Services for Efficiencies and Savings.

We know that when we work together, we accomplish more at a lesser cost. Katy would like to help find opportunities where governmental entities can work together to create a cost savings to the taxpayer - can you fix my streets because you have better equipment than I? Then I could lend you the manpower to repair your building. Intergovernmental agreements, barter arrangements and swaps could help increase productivity, cohesion, and strengthen lists of services offered.[1]
