2016

Smith's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Pro Life: I will fight to abolish Roe V Wade and will stand firmly with any and all Pro Life Bills. I will make sure that they do not get weighted down with unnecessary attachments to weaken protection for the unborn.

Property Tax: In Texas you can never really own your home. You are bound to an unfair property tax that fluctuates radically and is difficult to fight. There are a large percentage of people that never pay taxes into the system that makes our State work and function efficiently. I will work to eliminate the property tax with a balanced budget. You cannot “Phase” it out over a period of years. When faced with a snake, you cut off the head and are done with it. Finally Texans can truly own their home.

Franchise (Margins) Tax The Margins or Franchise Tax is BAD for Business and is BAD for Texas. I will actively work with other legislators to quickly eliminate this drain on business. As a small business owner, I know the unfair burden that this tax places on business and I will not stop until it is gone from our State.

Second Amendment Rights: Kay has had a CHL since 1998. It is a Constitutional Right of every Law abiding Citizen to protect their family, property and self. As a member of the NRA with an AQ rating from them, I will always support the Second Amendment

Border Security: We are not doing enough. Texas has a constitution that should be upheld and super-cedes Federal Control over Texas. the Federal Government can only do in Texas what Texas Legislators let them. Why do we let them interfere with our border security?[6]
