Right now, only about 30% of APS third graders are reading on grade level. That must change. Dr. Brock is focused on making sure every student — no matter their grade or neighborhood — has access to the interventions, resources, and opportunities they need to succeed.
Dr. Brock has a unique and comprehensive understanding of what it takes to create schools where students can thrive. Whether teaching a 6-year-old to read or guiding a 12th grader through the college admission process, she has seen firsthand the importance of strong, proven programs that support students at every stage of their educational journey.- Literacy is one of the most important issues to focus on. Assessing where the district is in the Science of Reading implementation and determining which resources are needed is an essential first step.
- I believe every APS graduate should walk across the stage with a clear postsecondary pathway plan.
- Every family should feel like they have a high-quality school in their district. We should narrow down the cluster support to ensure each area is getting what they need to make that happen.
