Kayleigh McEnany was a White House Press Secretary in the presidential administration of Donald Trump (R). She previously served as the press secretary for the President Trump's re-election campaign, a role she held beginning in February 2019.[1] As of August 2025, she co-hosted the show Outnumbered on Fox News.[2]
Biography
McEnany received a bachelor's degree from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in 2010 and interned for former president George W. Bush (R) as an undergraduate.[3] She received a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2016.[1]
McEnany began her political career as a cable news commentator for CNN during the 2016 presidential election cycle.[4] She had previously worked in media at Fox News and made her first appearance on the air in 2011.[1] McEnany left her job at CNN in August 2017 and hosted a video streaming program aired on Trump's Facebook page.[4] She was named a national spokesperson for the Republican National Committee later in August 2017.[3] In 2018, she published a book with Simon & Schuster titled The New American Revolution: The Making of a Populist Movement.[5]
McEnany became the national press secretary for President Trump's 2020 re-election campaign in February 2019.[1]
Work and experience
White House press secretary
On April 7, 2020 Trump named McEnany as press secretary, replacing Stephanie Grisham, who stepped down to serve as chief of staff and spokeswoman for First Lady Melania Trump.[6] At 31-years-old, CNN reported McEnany was one of the youngest White House press secretaries to hold the role.[1] She hosted her first press briefing on May 1, 2020, the first in-person briefing since March of 2019.[7]
Fox News
On March 2, 2021, Fox News host Harris Faulkner announced on-air that McEnany would be joining the network.[8] Later that month, the network announced that McEnany would co-host the program Outnumbered with Faulkner, co-host Emily Compagno, and a rotating group of other panelists.[9]
