Clark ran against Daniel Elliot and Peggy Mayfield in the Republican primary on May 8, 2012, with Peggy Mayfield winning the primary.[1] Incumbent Peggy Welch ran for re-election unopposed in the Democratic primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[2]
